The assembly software for GoPro that I use
Discover my other article on the best assembly software for GoPro! If you are looking for the best software to change the times, I recommend using Gopro Studio To format all the videos and another software to assemble them together, correct the color, export and publish videos on YouTube.

Here in my opinion the best assembly software to make time:
- IMovie (if you use an Apple computer)
- Final Cut Pro X
- Adobe Premiere
Here are the three best options if you are looking for a reliable and easy to use software. I started with the first professional but when I realized that after a year I still could not master, I went to Imovie. The first is a very good software and Final Cut Pro X is also very interesting. All three are popular and are also ideal for modifying times.
The best GoPro parameters for the steps of the time
Taking the time-shades with a GoPro is easy, but choosing the right settings is more complicated. Once your favorite editing software is found, it’s time to make an adventure and a movie!
Choose the right shooting interval
- 0.5 intervals; 1; 2; 5; 10; 30 and 60 seconds
There are 7 interval options regarding the times and everyone is ideal for a particular situation. For example, if you want to capture the movement of a storm and the clouds move quickly, you can choose a 2 second interval. If filters a dawn or sunset, you can choose a slower interval of 10 or 30 seconds, for example.
Here is a quick guide at the best Time-Lap intervals (in seconds) for your GoPro:
0.5 – Guide, close to a small subject (birds, insects, aquariums, etc.)
1 – People walking between the crowd, dense traffic, shooting from a bus or train in motion
2 – Quick movement clouds, tourist areas
5 – Lifting or sunset, clouds that move to a normal appearance
10 – Clouds that move slowly, construction site
30 – Nature, shadows on the ground, drying pool, storms
60 – The plants push, videos on a day or a whole night, in the long term
It’s easy to find the right interval for your GoPro! After making several times, you will find what you adapt to you and you will allow you to get the result you want.
Choose the best resolution (12 MP)
The ideal resolution to obtain quality time intervals is 4,000 x 3,000 pixels or 12 MP. Yes, these images occupy more space on your memory card but will also give a better result. If you are using GoPro Studio, hurry the 4,000 x 3,000 images in a time-lapse video of 1,080 %. You will therefore have a high resolution video.
Another advantage when filters in 12 MP is that if you want to take a particular photo, as a storm or something interesting that happened when you film, you will have a high quality image instead of a lower quality photo.
You just have to encourage lower resolutions if you don’t have enough space on your memory card Or if your video is very long and you don’t want to move the camera.
Choose the right reading speed
The choice of reading speed in advance allows not only to obtain a high quality time-lapse, but also to determine how long it is necessary to let your GoPro turn. I always use a value of 30 IP (images per second) for my videos and it is the same for my times.

A reading speed of 30 IPS will offer you the best rendering on YouTube and, if you have converted a video that was basically in 4,000 x 3,000, the result will also be excellent on TV. It is the ideal reading speed for obtaining the most fluid and realistic times.
Determine how long it is necessary to film
If you film with a 60 second interval, you will have to let your GoPro go for a while if you want to have a dead time. To get only one second of Time-Lapse, you will have to let your GoPro movie for 30 minutes if you have chosen a 60 second interval.
With a second interval, you should wait 30 seconds to get a second of Time-Lapse. If you stay in the same place for 10 minutes, you can get a time of time of about 20 seconds and if you are in a hurry or if you do a quick assembly, it is enough enough.
I like to film 10 -minute slices but if I have to stay in the same place for a long time or if I want to film something in particular, I can stay in the same place until my battery is empty or about an hour and a half.
Find the ideal place
When you are looking for a place to make a time-lapse, try finding one from where you can capture beautiful interactive videos. In practice, the rule of third parties and make sure you always have a central point on your time-lapse. If a popular tourist destination films, try to do it from a point of view from where you will see people moving or floating clouds.
There is nothing worse than looking at a time-lapse in which nothing really happens. Clouds, moving water, wind in trees are some elements that can improve your time-lapse.
Use the right equipment and good accessories
You don’t want your time-lapse to be ruined because you have not correctly positioned the camera or a burst of wind has canceled it. Make sure the camera is stable using a GoPro tripod like the Gorilla Pod or the one included in the super useful fixation 3 in 1.
They are fast to install and offer you many more options in terms of corners and views that you can acquire. They are also very resistant, so you don’t have to fear that the camera falls or be swept away by the wind. I would also recommend buying a suction cup so that you can correct the camera on flat surfaces and obtain more original corners than if you use only a tripod.

The battery supplied with the GoPro is not enough. If you want to make longer soil, you will have to buy some reserve batteries. If I film, I take about 4 with me and so far I have never been short of juice. I recommend the Wasabi batteries that never served me before.
You can also buy a longer power cable with a USB adapter so that your GoPro remains connected directly to your socket. This would allow you to make long times (several hours or days) without having to worry about changing the battery. I have a USB cable of 1 m 80 and I use it as soon as I have the opportunity. Do not forget to protect the camera, especially if you move and take into consideration the use of a case for GoPro transport.
Memories cards with great storage skills are simply the best accessories for GoPro. It is good to have 2 or 3 different cards of 32 or 64 GB. So you will never be in memory and you can record everything you like. Make sure to use a class 10 at least because the GoPro writes the data quickly and a card with less capacity will not be able to keep up. If you don’t know which one to choose, be sure to take a look at our guide to choose the SD card of your GoPro.
5 photographic suggestions (and movies) for Gopro
- Avoid the scenes of over 30 seconds. You can consider the shooting sequences from 5 to 15 seconds so that your recordings are easy to organize and mount on videos.
- Create the ideal point of view. Try to film or capture images from a corner from which you can both see the subject but also other interesting elements in the foreground and in the background. Try not to film a scene in which there is no movement or movement, no central point, it is boring!
- Search for original corners. Not only filming from the usual PDV corner that we see in almost all videos and every photo. Try to find new ones that are interesting and bring a little extra to your movie and photographic style.
- Tells a story. When a video films or take a photo, try to always have a story in mind. Do not capture simple buildings or landscapes, continue to improve and learn from your old videos to try to always catch your spectators.
- Have fun. If you don’t have fun when filters, you will lose interest for this hobby. Renewed and constantly search for new ways/methods to film and take photos.

Recently, the new model on the market, «Hero» has become the most convenient basic model. I advise you to avoid it and promote one of the oldest Hero 3 + models or wait until you can offer you the 4 silver or black hero.
There is nothing really bad in the model of basic heroes, but I can guarantee you that you will fall in love with GoPro and that you will regret not having chosen a higher model with better specifications and settings.
